An editorial guide to a UNESCO village

The canal towpath,
before the crowds.
Saltaire had no independent local guide. The council site listed opening hours. TripAdvisor listed chain restaurants. Nobody was writing about the actual village — the walks along the canal, the independent shops on Victoria Road, the archive of 7,700 historical items sitting in a local collection. So we built it.
Custom Next.js build. Server-rendered, zero client JavaScript on most pages. Full-text search across 400+ businesses and the heritage archive. Walking routes with accessibility notes. Food and drink guides written by someone who actually eats there.

“Best barber in Saltaire. Consistent every time.”
James T.
Walked past, noticed no website, walked in, asked. Full chair, strong Instagram, loyal customers — but invisible on Google. Anyone searching “barber near Saltaire” would never find them. The site changed that inside a week.
Dark-mode single page with gallery-first layout. Booksy booking integration wired in. Before-and-after gallery with real haircuts. Loads in under 800ms on 3G. The gallery drove a measurable spike in first-time bookings within two weeks of launch.

“They genuinely care. Our dog loves going and we get photos every walk.”

Dog walking is a trust business. People are handing over a family member to a stranger they found on Google. The site leads with DBS check, insurance details and transparent pricing — visible before anything else. No “About Our Passion” section. Just proof.
Service pages with clear pricing and area boundaries. Enquiry form that asks the questions a walker actually needs answered — breed, age, behaviour, vet details. Photo-update workflow wired in so owners get a daily picture of their dog on the towpath.

Premium 1:1 football coaching at £40+ per session needs a site that justifies the price before the first conversation. Parents are comparing you to free council sessions and YouTube videos. The site has to answer “why pay?” in the first three seconds.
Dark editorial build with programme cards, session pricing, real coaching outcomes and parent testimonials. Trial booking flow with Stripe deposits. Built around credibility — qualifications, FA badges, named testimonials with specific results.
